Sorry to bother you guys with this, as its probobly pretty simple to you. Was wondering if you could tell me wether this set of parts would be compatable with each other

I'm pretty sure they are all ok, except maybe the Motherboard wont fit in the case, or mayve the PSU isn't compatible with the processor or MB

Just need a more professional opinion really, thanks for your time guys

The case link is dead. However aslong as the case you choose will accept an ATX motherboard then the Asus board you've selected will fit in it no problems.

The AMD 3500+ will work fine on that board. I have the standard version with the same CPU and its awesome!.

PSU should do the job very nicely aswell. Its ATX2 so I believe will have a 24pin ATX connector, means ya dont have to mess around with 20-24pin adaptors. Putting out plenty of wattage and with the Dual 12v rails your SLI future doesnt look half bad either!

Yea, i'm hoping this motherboard will last me a while, well atleast longer than my present one

Havn't had it long, Learnt about PCI - Express about 3 monthes after getting it , So i started saving then

And with Pentiums falling behind Athlons at the moment, figured i mayaswell jump on the AMD bandwagon while i was at it

Little tip on the Asus A8N's actually. All the Deluxe version offers over the standard is an extra Gigibit LAN port and 4more SATAII ports (via a silcon image chip), so you could save yourself a few quid, like someone I know..lol
Also speaking of future proofing, Asus now make the A8N32, which offers two x16 PCI-e slots in SLI mode, rather than splitting the single x16 to two x8(effective) slots on the other A8N's. Worth the extra cash if you love your SLI I'm hereing.

btw...Have a little google on nForce4 chipsets if your planning on using Maxtor SATA drives. Allot of peeps have been having some serious issues with them, me included!

....and dont ask me why I didnt put this lot in my first post, as I really dont know! Anyways.. Cant see any reason why you couldnt get more like 3years outta this setup. Plenty of room to upgrade graphics and once the 3500+ starts holding ya back, X2's will be bargain basement prices!

Ahhh.....That hard drive thing may be a problem. At the moment i am using a Maxtor 6l200P0 http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=HDM-2006LPO

I might go for the Asus A8N-SLi SE, is that what you have? And is that Sli compatible?

Which says its a serial ATA, but i hear also works in SATA mode.

I'm not much in the know, especially with Hard Drives. Would that work with my motherboard? Or would i end up with a super computer, with no hard drive?

Tell me about it! :-# While waiting for my luuuuverly new Seagate I've been using an old 2.5GB Fujistu drive. God its slow and the joke wears a bit thin when as I type this I have about 30MB of free space..LMAO

Yeah, thats an IDE drive. I havent researched into it bigtime but what I have seen has all been related to the DiamondMax 9/10 SATA drives...

Also, is the Asus A8N-SLi SE a viable choice, are there any major problems or downgrades from the standard one? Cant seem to find a site with the standard one on at the moment, only Delux, Premiun and SE

I would think you'll be ok as I've heard nothing about IDE Maxtors causing any issues. I havent got an IDE maxtor to check here and tbh I'll never be touching any Maxtor drive again, anyway!

Had a google and not many places over here are selling the SE version. You telling me is the first I've heard about it tbh, but looking at the specs here... http://www.mediaatlantic.com/product.php/64428/69/ With the exception of Firewire, according to that place its the same as the standard board? Best bet would be to have a looksee at www.asus.com

By the way, does this thing have onboard graphics at all? Or any way to play without a graphics card?

I am planning on getting a card, but, was planning on waiting another month or so when i have more money. From what i'm reading, no onboard video is mentioned

Also, i'm not sure if Dual Core Processors are supported on the SE, or atleast its not mentioned on the Asus webpage
