overheat

If having a problem with computer overheating how do i go about cleaning the pc what do i need.

For desktop:
- Disconnect everything outside the box (not the insides)
- Open/remove the cover
- Use a fast/strong blow dryer (lowest/no heat) to remove dust
- Use vaccum to clean ports

For Notebooks:
- Try using compressed air
- Clear/clean vents every few weeks

You may want to do this outside too because the dust bunnies will just cloud your room. The newer blow dryer have a "cool" shot setting and blows only cool air, not hot. I have that kind of hair dryer which is so neat. It blows out tons more air than a normal can of compressed air. Espeically when you have it on high "cool" shot. I don't think you even need anything else to get rid of the dust once you use that.

Yeah, I have one. Their sucking potential is pretty average and no use if you have a large build up of dust. I'd do the hair dryer thing and maybe have a vacuum cleaner to hand to hoover up the dust that will be spraying about the place. The smaller PC hoovers may be useful for cleaning out the ports though.

An ordinary vauum cleaner can damage the chips through static electricity. Just be careful not to touch or go near any components.
