changing computer fan speeds

my case fan just went randomly from 3k rpm to 5k for no reason and my cpu temp dropped by 10 celcius.

is there a program (other than speedfan) that lets you do this, because speedfan doesnt work properly for me....

It went from 3k to 5k, becasue its most likely set up like that in the bios, meaning, when it needs the extra boost, it will do so..In the bios there is a place where you can view all the fans connected to the mobo, and change the rpm..

nah, it sometimes happens when i close speedfan or if i restart the comp. i have prebuilt, so no fan options in bios.

wow, it wasnt from 3 to 5 , but from 1.6 to 5. thats even worse.

alright, i got speedfan to work, should i raise the fan speed from 1.6 to say...3k?
