Cam trouble help

Either Im a complete idiot or there is something really messed up. I have a webcam and when I turn it on its green, and sometimes upside down. Why? Other select times it's not, but I just don't understand. Help anyone??

find out what is different about those times when it does work.or.......

step one-check all connections
step two-check to make sure drivers are updated(not off disk but off manufacturers website)
step three-check all available settings to be at default
step four-make sure installation instructions were followed to the letter (i usually do this by uninstalling and doing it again)
step five-restart computer on the off chance that it might fix the issue

these are the steps i follow whenever i install some new hardware on my computer and it's not working right, if all this fails

step six-return/exchange/RMA and hope the next one ain't broke

I know it's my computer because I have tried uninstall and reinstall and shutting down my computer and getting new product. Guess ill just have to wait for a new computer. Hopefully soon!
