Yeah.. so I finally realized my old rig is too out of date.

My new rig will be used mainly for Photoshop, Vegas, Surfing, MSN, and some Engineering Software for University. However, I also like to play some games such as Counter Strike, The Sims 2, Halo 2, Battlefield, etc, and hope to be able to play some of the newer gamers coming out later. Anyways, my budget is $750 - $800 CAD dollars. I can't use Newegg which allot of people recommend their products on because they don't ship to Canada. :( . A site you can use to see prices is www.canadacomputers.com, one of their warehouses is about a 10 minute drive from where I live.

So here is what I've been planning to make:
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 Socket LGA775, 1.86 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 4MB L2 Cache, 65nm
$192.99

Mobo
Asus P5B Socket 775 Intel 965 Express + ICH8 Chipset Dual-Channel DDR2 533/667/800 Gigabit Lan Intel High Definition Audio PCI-Express x16 Graphics 4xSATAII Support Core 2 Duo Processor
$132.99

PSU
Cooler Master iGreen 500W Power Supply ATX V2.2 EPS12V SLI Ready Active PFC 20/24PIN 120MM Fan
$104.99

RAM
Crucial Ballistix (BL2KIT12864AA804) DDR2 800Mhz PC2 6400 2GB Kit (1GB x 2) 240-pin
$126.99

Drive
Seagate Barracuda (ST3250620AS) 7200.10 250GB SATA NCQ 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache (OEM)
$73.99

I'M BUMMED :p :p I need some help here to complete the system

I have give or take ~ $150 to spend. My friend told me to cheapen the PSU a bit because I won't be needing it (although I HATE having a crummy PSU:mad: ) and to save a bit more money on the RAM (downgrading to 667, or to 1GB) I could also save some money on the Hard Drive

I have very little knowledge of the current ATI vs Nvidia feud and which company currently prevails. The last time I kept up to date was back when the x800 was the best of the best. Anyways, do as you please and any recommendations are welcomed. Keep in mind this is a budget system.

Alright I will definitely consider that PSU.

I'm also considering getting a 8600 GT, Is that a good GPU? I'm really only interested in current generation games, and have no interest in upgrading to Vista or DX10 in the near future, so is the 8600 GT a good purchase under those circumstances? For a price of $146.99.

Try to get the 8600GTS. That would be a bit better than the GT.

Is it worth the extra $50 for the 8600 GTS?

Also, do all my parts look compatible? Any problems/views you guys have on the build I'm planning?

i wouldnt get the 8600GTS by the sounds of it your not an extreme gamer or anything the 8600GT will play any game that exists at the moment might be on low settings or something but like i say to the average gamer you ont really notice the difference
