if its going to be for gaming im presuming it is with the 8800 gt. i would change the CPU with a Quad Core or the 3.00 Ghz dual core

Yeah I have the GT listed instead of the GTS.

Which of these would u prefer if I upgrades my CPU? They are both the same price and $50 more than the one I have listed now.

Thanks for your help :)

definitly the Quad.... but the Sound card is useless.. the on board sound is great.. it even has an optical output.. that'll save u 80$$ to put toward ur quad..

hmm so drop the sound card...interesting, that might work

I was also told that I should try avoid Seagate (not sure y) but when I tried to look for hard drive with 500gb and 32mb cache I only find Seagate. I can find a 750gb hd with 32mb cache but that is another $50. Is it worth spending the money to get one of these?

HITACHI 0A35154 750GB SATA 7200 RPM 32MB Hard Drive Bulk ($180)

OR should I spend less for the 16mb cache?

SAMSUNG SpinPoint T Series HD501LJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM ($105)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152052

thanks again

Onboard sound is okay, but it just isn't sufficent for what I use sound for, and they also tend to use more resources since the CPU has to decode sound rather than a dedicated sound card.

I would personally go for the Spinpoint T series 500GB model, but maybe you need the extra 250GB's? I don't know, thats up to you.
I wouldn't bother with getting one with a higher cache though if it costs a lot more. 16mb should be plenty.

Yea I would get rid if the sound card also, other than that looks good. I would think about choosing another case, did you check the ones on newegg?

This ones slightly cheaper:

I would recommend the Xtreme Music, but its not listed on the site, nor Newegg.
Have they discontinued it?

The reason I'm trying to get you to buy a dedicated card, is because it may become useful, and drivers are a lot better now. I'm just not a fan of Realtek when it comes to sound quality, and you seem to lose dedicated bass/treble controls too.

Yeah I would like to get a sound card around that price, just because I am going to be doing high end gaming with good sound and some media aspects on the computer. That sound card seems good but that is one part of the computer that I have no idea the difference :D so I am not sure whats best for price

Yeah and I was thinking about the samsung 500gb...but I wasnt sure if I should get a higher cache but this one looks good then.

shadygirl is there a certain type of case you would recommend for this system? The one I have is only $50, I'm willing to go a lil higher but not too much.

Thanks for all your help
