I have a explorer.exe buffer overrun problem. I have tried various tips to combat it but to no such luck. I have tried:

>system restore to earlier date;
>looking for older Java programs in add/remove programs scene - to which I cant find any version - strange?
> tried deleting cookies and everything in internet explorer internet options screen and defaulting to internet explorer

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I have tried looking online for help from other users experiencing same problem but all sugestions have pointed to above tips.

I was thinking about resorting to a full clean reinstall of Win Xp and SP2 as it seems so many people are having the exact same problem but never getting any results but was hoping their was just one little trick out there to overcome this nauseating problem.

Sounds like a worm to me.
These viruses use buffer overflow to establish their foothold.
