Hello,

I have a problem

I got an iso file of an os. then, my cd writer is defective. is there a way in order to beet it from my HDD?

Thanks!

Id rather not to buy a cd writer! :D :D

I'll assume that you're talking about Linux. (which frequently comes as ISO downloads).

and the answer is no, there is no way to mount an ISO file at boot.

the best that you could do is extract the file to a USB drive and boot from a USB drive to install the OS. (assumng your mainboard supports this).

I mean, i created a partition on boom!, i extract all files there. Is there anyway to voot off in that partition aside from C: which contains windows xp

the both long and short answer is no.

you need to do one of three things.

either, burn a CD and boot from the bootable CD
or extract to a usb drive and boot from USB.
or extract to a network location and boot from the network (this is a lot more work than the other two).

you can't use the local drive as the boot media to install an OS on the local drive.
