i bought a second hand laptop for my daughter to use for school,i put windows xp on it,
but im trying to get into the bios setup, but it asks for a password even though i have put windows on ,any help of getting into the bios would be welcome, cheers.ps its a hi-grade comp

I would guess that you would have to flash the bios and maybe reinstall them if that MB requires that you do that.

if all that doesn't work, you're screwed. or you could contact whomever you bought it from and see if they know the password.

what are you trying to get into the bios for? may i ask?
FYI Bios is a totaly different animal then installing XP. Xp is installed on your Hard Drive. The bios is stored on a chip install on your motherboard. So it will always read first. If you have a bad flash your bios is gone and so it will not boot up at all. Im not sure, but i think there is a way to flash the bios when its dead but not for sure. Anyways if you dont realy need to get into there i wouldnt bother.

I really have my doubts on this one. It just doesn't sound right.
