Avg Antivirus Updates Problems

Whenever i click on check for updates on avg 7.0 free edition it says its connecting to the updates server but it says-
THE REQUEST TIMED OUT AND COULD NOT BE COMPLETED. THE UPDATE SERVER CONNECTION WAS INTERRUPTED.
i get this message everytime i try for updates ive uninstalled and re- installed avg but is still the same.
please help.

Jim,
close the program, and turn off system restore..when it is turned off go to this site and run their safe and good scanner. Let it scan your system...there is a chance that you have a virus and it is attacking your virus software and preventing it from working.

I had that problem for awhile last night, but after the 4th or 5th try, I got my updates from AVG.

yes, not only can they control the anti-virus programs installed but also can keep your spyware/malware programs from working also. You have to rename everything to get it to work to remove the pest and in some cases the only way is to reformat and reinstall.

I JUST REMEMBERED can't you download updates directly from the avg website.
