I've just purchased a 4870 (forgive my very outdated signature) and tested it using Oblivion.

In heavily wooded area and running around, using Max settings on everything possible, 1920 x 1200 resolution, HDR lighting and 8 x AA... I get around 40-45 FPS. Is this about right?

Never played Oblivion... but with that card I could do anything. Back when playing WoW I could have like 8 open with no lag and the frame rate was awesome. I Built my computer... my friend wanted to one up me and bought one almost the same as mine, it just had a video card worse than mine. He ran two and had a lot of lag issues

I love this card. It's just really, really big. I'm glad I bought a big case ><
