im lookin for a prossesor for gaming im on budget im down to either intel p4 3.4ghz or
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ Socket AM2
that its 2.7ghz its only 20$ more than p4 which is better:confused:

Get the Athlon. I have the 3.0Ghz version (6000+) and it's plenty fast. My friend has a p4 3.4ghz and mine is much faster than his.

thank you so much i just checked uot crysis system requirments and thats chip will run it so thx dude:D :D :D

I'm not sure why you would pay for old technology like that. New technology is far superior and not that much more. What is your budget?

im building a barebones and it comes with cpu i have about 265$ to spend and thats the best i can find for that its only 199$ and ima get 4gb ddr2 800mhz for it to

A way better system:

Total comes to $270...$5 over your budget (factoring in rebates, not shipping..shouldn't be much).

Then you could save up for a while and get yourself a great graphics card (using onboard to get you by for now) and, later on, you can get 4GB of RAM and/or a bigger HDD. The biggest mistake people run into when building a computer is getting crappy/old base components (a P4, or similar AMD CPU). It's just not cost effective as they are poor performers for any of today's high-demand programs and games. Sure, they'll work for browsing the net, but they'll be crap for anything more than that.

Shut up. I love my athlon.

chief: go with what dude recommended, you will be better off with a newer cpu (even if it has the came clock speed).

since that cpu is socket am2+ this is the board and it says socket am2+ ECS nVidia GeForce6100PM-M2 Motherboard so i could get the comp im lookin at and after i get 60$ more ill upgrade to that cpu

I didn't understand a word of that. Use some punctuation and I'll try and understand what you are saying.
