3-pin fan connector on mobo

i have an intel 875p mobo, and i got a fan that has ONLY a 3 pin connector; anyway, i tried plugging it into the 3 pin connector on my mobo and after i turned it on, it went for like 5 seconds and then stopped working.
does anyone know why this is? is it somehting i have to do in bios???

I don't know of any BIOS settings (someone else may, though).....have you got another fan you can try?

Maybe the an i knackered, try it in another system!

ive already tried 3 fans
