Hi,
I have just fitted a new HDD to my laptop. It is a 160Gb HDD drive, but only 127GB is being recognised. Anyone any ideas as to what I need to do to correct this. Thanks.

hmm no idea to be honest i know with the hole formatting thing you will only ever see like 148 or 150Gb but 127 does take the biscuit

you could try getting hold of a partition tool and expland the drive to any free space that may be available.

i reccomend acronis disk creator

How to enable 48-bit Logical Block Addressing support for ATAPI disk drives in Windows XP

This assumes you have xp since you never stated your problem. This can also happen in windows 2000. If you have a disk with xp sp2 slipstreamed in you could avoid this problem.
