1080p monitor , can my computer handle it? with specs

Hi new to the site , and i'm thinking of getting a new monitor and was wondering if my current computer can handle a 1080p monitor, and if it cant support it can you make some suggestions on what i could upgrade so that i can. i mostly watch movies and play video games on this computer also.

The key component is the NIVIDIA Geforce 9500 GT video card. It should reach a resolution of 2560 x 1600 digital output (DVI port) and 2048 x 1536 VGA output. Check the specs at the Nvidea website.

By computer monitor standards, 1080P isn't super high. I'm running 1680 x 1050 with a Nvidia Geforce 9600 GSO 512 video card.
