I currently have two medium sized speakers that are made for room CD players. They are they kind of speakers that have both a red and black terminal in the back for wires to connect to. I was wondering what i need to get in order to get them connect to my computer to use as speakers for my computer. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

an amplifier to power the speakers, and you can run a 1/8" headphone cable with rca's on the other side into the amplifier. You can't just plug them into your computer, the sound card likely doesn't have the power to drive them.

Thats right.
You need "powered pc speakers" Sound cards have very little preamp.
Get at least a 2.1 L R and Subwoofer to enjoy your computer sounds.

Or he can get an amplifier if he is set on using those speakers as well. You can run the line out of your computer to an external amplifier pretty easily. Above way would be easier for certain, you can get the logitech 2.1 setup for like 50 bucks on newegg. A decent amplifier can cost a chunk of change.

Do you have a Home Stereo System ? Amp/Receiver etc.
Do you only require Stereo, not Dolby surround ?
A lot depends on your room envirionment.
You can send the sound out to a Home System Receiver with these speakers
