Default Virus Problem

I have a windows me o/s and have recently discovered that I have 3 viruses on files that are in use. I am using AVG antivirus application and it has detected them at the following path. C:\restore\temp and the file names are A0014437.cpy
I have tried cleaning in safe mode and still no luck. I have looked in the properties of MY COMPUTER and there is no system restore tab to turn off all system restore drives as there is in windows xp professional. Are there any idea's out there as what to do nexr?
