Default Trojans, Spyware, Adaware....

Few things I've always wondered, so I'm just gonna list 'em.

1.) Where did these things come from? I just remember reading about them in a PC magazine while waiting in the waiting room for an appointment

2.) I know these can be used to monitor keystrokes and hopefully get credits card number ETC... But why all the popups? Is that really subtle if you want to get someone's personal information??

3.) Why are the popups all the same? Viagra/Dating/Mortage Loans/Spyware Removal Software/Get rich quick schemes. I just want to know who the hell would make popups like that, only thing I can think of is praying that the user clicks on the link and then gets infected even further.

4.) Has anyone actually bought viagra/got a mortage loan/won 50$ gift certificate ETC...

Reason these questions came to me is I'm busy fixing my brother's computer and am just looking at all the reg keys and cookies and trackers and just wondering why on gods name were these "created"??

i am having the same problem with my friends computer. i think the majority of the problem with his computer are not advertisement pop-ups, which are still there but not the major problem. porn is the factor, i believe. what your approach to these problems.

the way i am going about trying to clean his computer is..one he did not have a anti virus. so i downloaded avg.6.0 to see if it clean the computer, but can't clean certain ones. i have downloaded adware soft ware to delete anything in the register or anything that starts up with the computer.

my next step is purchasing a anti virus protection.

can you give me a suggestion that will not cost me any money?

yay...those spyware & adware suck the fun out of a comp. unless you fight back and block that crap from coming in & going out of yer comp.

Hopefully there can be a great compromize between Microsoft & the people who make these spyware prog.'s....

If only Microsoft would join up w/these people & have these built into the OS......Lol

I would try:

Spy Bot
Panda active anti virus scan

Those are Great sites to find bugs/ spam on your computer.

Ad aware is my favorite program of all, its gets all the pop ups off your computer! (Those swedes sure can make a good program!)
