Yes, you can encrypt files using encryption software

I recommend trucrypt

Try the program 7 ZIP it allows you to compress the file and password protect it

If you want other options, winrar is a very popular compression utility. As well as 7-zip, it offers password protection on files, and quite a few options. Just an fyi.
