do u connect each computer's via router with firewall built in?..if so i wouldn't worry..cause i share drives on my network...and with the router..i'm safe

edit:..u can also allow or not allow users to change your files...and select different folders.

check this out:
http://web.balliol.ox.ac.uk/comp/shares/index.asp

and a c&p from that site:
"It is not possible to password protect shares on Windows XP Home edition (there is no problem with XP Professional) and hence shares must not be used on XP home. In XP Home you must disable File and Printer sharing in the network control panel."

yea I'm connecting them trough a router i have 4 wired connections and 2 wireless computers connected. the router is using wpa-psk encryption and has a firewall so its all safe in that respective. my problem is to stop "authorised" users using the files. so my problem is if i share "for example" my family accounts over the network the other people that use the computers will be able to access them. i do not want this to happen i only want a person the i let look at them

sorry to sound tecchel i t is really only my home network
PS i am using windows xp professional
