Default Problems w/ my computer?

Hey,

Just wanted a little help.

Every time I log on to Windows, a few IE windows pop up with their destination being "http://www.popuppers.com............", but then they go to "Cannot Display Page" or something (because I don't have an open internet connection), and I also get a prompt about not being able to open "C:\Windows\Program Files\WildTangent\" or something, what is that? Each time I get on the internet, also, whether I'm using AOL or IE, the "http://www.popuppers.com..........." window opens, and I'm unable to close it and it freezes my internet activity. What is wrong with my computer? I use "Spybot: Search and Destroy" and "AOL Spyware Protection" to rid my computer of problems, but it seems like there's always something wrong. I also defragment my PC each week but it still moves slow all the time. Does anyone have any opinions on what's wrong and what I can do to fix it? One last problem: When I try to open my Windows Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL), It only shows for a moment and then disappears, and when I go to click on the icon that appears in the icon tray for the Task Manager, it disappears as I hover over it.

Thanks
- Josh

Download ad-aware. Install and scan your computer.
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

If this is not solved yet, then download Hijackthis
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
Scan the computer with hijackthis and please post your log here.

After doing all, don't forget to check the "msconfig" at startup. Disable the unnecessary or unknown programs.

Hope it helps.

Thanks. Most of the stuff was fixed, but the WildTangent thing was still there. I used the Ad-Aware, and then downloaded the other. Here is my log:

It's best to run both adaware and spybot because both have definitions the other does not.

yeah, and check to see what's in your startup menu.
start/run/ msconfig./startup tab..... check to see if I.E or popup is in their, if so uncheck the box next to it.

Could you explain? The only one that gets a response when I put it into Start/Run is "msconfig", but the cursor changes to hourglass and then the action stops.. How do I go about doing what you were saying?

Well, i'm no expert at reading highjack files, but it would seem to me that AOL is in the startup menu.

i would check it by: start/run/msconfig-start tab. check to see if AOL is there, if it is uncheck the box.

Also check the registry for the run/ & run once folders, check in these for Aol.exe and delete them.

this will not delete AOL.exe , it wiil only prevent it from loading up when windows starts.

and if it won't let you get to msconfig in windows, boot-up to safe mode, and do the start/run/ type msconfig./ startup tab.

look for either AOL.EXE/ I.E exe (internet explorer) / or anything that has POP-up in it.
