Default mysterious emails

Hello again! I haven't been here in forever, and only twice then... yeah, no reason for a biography. I have two problems, really. One is a blasted universal internet blockade at the school. They use "8e6 R3000 Internet filtering provided by 8e6 Technologies," and have everything slightly hinted at... once again, not important. It is rediculous, though (for those scared of non-ethical hacking, I will state that this even has blocked "How Stuff Works," among other highly educational websites for undeterminable reasons, perhaps only for pop-up ads or the sort). My first request is for anyone that has an idea that could get me around this to do so(alternate internet browsing and failure to log into the network does nothing; I've brought my cheap, not working, but at-the-time effecient laptop running on Linux and it was still blocked).

The next question is of these mysterious emails that I have been getting, from different IP addresses (from photoshop programs to out-of-country non-English colleges) that seem to be partial stories or nonsensical sentences blobbed together. I want to know how to find out where they are coming from. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Umm... I don't get to check in very often, so please forgive me if I don't even read any replies for up to a week. Past that, I must have forgotten.

Thanks for, at the very least, wasting your time and reading this. I like writing, so... wait, that's more useless info. You can see where this is going...

Have you tried using a proxy? www.hidemyass.com

As i can see from 8e6 technologies's website, it is a hardware device.

http://www.8e6.com/products/R3000/index.htm

and i saw this the other day on tv

http://psiphon.civisec.org/

it lets you set up a server at home and it acts as a proxy so u can access it from school and the internet pages go through your home computer to your school computer instead of a direct connection to the internet.

Yep, if you use a proxy it should work. At my school, Hide My Ass is blocked though. I use http://wootage.com/ .

As for the spam, there's nothing you can really do about it except try to set a spam filter rule and hope it works. Just DO NOT reply to the e-mails, you'll just get more spam. You can try to use this to trace IP addresses:

Well, thank you all so very much! I still am stuck behind the iron wall, but I am making progress with the emails, thanks to Mr. Freestyler.

...goodbye.
