Default How do you secure your PC

Mines:-

AVG Free
Spybot 8.0
XP Pro EFS on important folders
XP Firewall on (you'd be insane to leave off)
Peer Guardian 2

My personal combo is

-avg free
-avast fee
-spybot free
-comodo firewall pro free
-avira anti virus free
-bitdefender total security 2009 or -bitdefender 10 free depends if you have 32x or 64x as you cant install -bitdefender 10 free on 64x
-Ccleaner or -auslogics or both

I have a hardware firewall in my modem and a brain, more than sufficient





That said, I did run avast until recently

WTF??? you're running four av's???

I hope they're not all resident, you do know that you should only run one at a time don't you???

there is 2 combinations i go for.

Nod32
Windows Defender
Ad Aware
XP Firewall
Router Firewall

Symantec Coorporate Edition
Windows Defender
Ad Aware
XP Firewall
Router Firewall

Kasperskey Anti virus (Fully Enabled)
Nod32 (Amon disabled)
AVG Internet Security (Resident Shield and Web Shield disabled)
Windows Defender (Real time protection disabled)
Truecrypt AES full hard drive encryption
Peer Guardian 2
Protowall
SocketShield

All anti virus programs have scheduled scans e.g

Kasperskey 8:00am
Nod32 2:00pm
AVG 7:00pm
Defender 12:00am

I change my encrypting password and windows password every 3 weeks.

Same here, although my laptop does have the windows firewall enabled. I haven't had a virus in years and if I do my stuff is backed up so I'll just wipe the drive and reinstall.
