Ok so basically yesterday was browsing the web and avast picked up a virus alert so it told me to abort... so i did and all of a sudden my startbar/desktop dissapeared...
I restarted the comp and an error came up saying explorer has performed an illegal operation... and my desktop still wont load I can get into all my file using alt-ctrl-del.
I ran my avast virus detection and it came up and found a JS: Classloader - 6 I deleted that fine but my desktop still wont load!!
someone please help I read somewhere that I may need to delete somethings in the Registry but I have no idea what???

Sounds like a virus tried to edit your explorer but didn't get to finish leaving corrupt files. Either that or that's exactly what the virus was supposed to do. Either way, the first thing you should try is to hit F8 to get the startup menu when Windows is loading, and choose to start with the last known good configuration. If this does not work, a system restore should.
