hi all, my problem is that i have two files in system 32 that are nearly spelt the same, diskperf.exe and diskpperf.exe,
my avg resident shield brings up diskpperf.exe as a trojan downloader. avg asks if i want to force remove it, but could cause a crash of my system, can anybody advise me please

So, I can't find anything on Google relating to diskpperf.exe, but know that many malware applications will disquise themselves as other processes or be named very similar to cause confusion like this. I would boot into Safe Mode with networking and download MalwareBytes and run a scan. Then boot back up into normal windows and run CCleaner's registry cleaner.

diskperf.exe is your Disk Performance Configuration Utility file, part of MS.

not sure about the diskpperf.exe one

diskpperf.exe is not an OS file, id say delete it. If it doesnt delete is because theres a lock on it, download hirens boot cd and boot to mini windows and then delete the file from there

You can always boot in safe mode and do scans. I suggest looking files up on systemlookup or processlibrary.
