So you're trying to prevent data corruption by backing up before it happens? That's not data recovery, that's just backing up. Data recovery is after something happens, when you need to get data off before it gets worse, such as a very bad hard drive.

I use acronis to backup my files, the boot disk is very helpful to make images. Others use norten ghost, but i hate it.

To recover your lost data you can use Data recovery software's.Simply search on google for the same, you will find no. of links & software's to download the recovery software's.

Personally I recommend you to use Power Data Recovery because I have tried it.It is very simple to use & also helps you to recover your 85-90% of data.
