Compaq Presario Won't Connect to Router

I'm attempting to fix a family member's laptop, which has inexplicably lost the ability to connect to our house's internet router. The laptop is a Compaq Presario CQ60 and the router is a standard Netgear router. It's no problem with the OS, I recently upgraded it to Windows 7 and it has no trouble connecting via ethernet. When I attempt to connect wirelessly it registers the router being present and our neighbors' but it simply stays locked in the "Connecting" phase. Windows troubleshooting has never helped me and all it tells me to do is turn it off and back on again anyways. Any ideas?

Do you have the driver's disc for the router, or a netgear drivers disc for an adapter it worked on my old Win XP Compaq that died a few years ago and we were using a netgear router then as well.
