Default bios pass on acer ferrari 4000 laptop

Trying to fix a problem laptop and need to run recovery through the bios but there is a password set which the owner says he does not remember
tried the phoenix default bios passes but no go

In the Ferrari 4000 service guide found here it says
http://www.wuala.com/gregburd/Docume...ice_guide.pdf/

Remove BIOS Password
1. Copy MastID program to C
2. Click Start > Program > Accessories > Command Prompt
3. Go to C:directory
4. Run mastid.exe
5. Key in “01234567” as following picture
6. Get master password

but not sure where i am supposed to find MastID programme
tried google but i am at a dead end
cant get into the battery as it means disassembly of the whole laptop

btw i have all the recovery cd and the system cd but cant see it on there

laptop model is acer ferrari 4000

Best to contact Acer support as they will guide you to resetting the password.

just stripped the whole laptop down and re added thermal paste and cleaned the fan out and it seems to have fixed the overheating and also while doing this removed the battery and now have the bios pass fixed also.

but now i have a new problem
when it was overheating and would not format/install an operating system i removed the hdd and formated it on another computer

but now the bios in the original computer cant see the hdd

You will have to go into bios to get it to recognise the hard drive.

have been and still cant there is no setting there
btw other hdd works fine in the laptop so that rules out computer error
but this hdd is not found on another comp (usb enclosure)
which might indicate a hdd failure but i dont think there is anything wrong with it

message i get when trying to install windows is
windows cannot be installed to this disk
this computer,s hardware may not support booting to the disc
ensure that the disk,s controller is enabled in the computer bios menu

Sounds like you stuffed it, Wear a anti-static strap next time when you play with the hardware to prevent this from happening.

Static electricity will destroy PC parts if not handled correctly.

Seen this many times with people handeling electronics with out precautions.
