i have noticed that on windows ME version on my really old pc, you can right click a file or compressed folder and click encrypt it, and it makes it password protected, however i have also noticed that you cannot do this on XP (home eddition that i have).
is there any other way in which i can just right click or something? i do not like the sound of going to the explorer because 1. it sounds complicated, and 2. whenever i try to do something i dont understand - my pc goes weird!!!

any help is greatly recieved :)

right click on the folder, and select properties.

then use the securoty tab to set who can, or cannot see it...

windows ME was bvased around old DOS technology, where as windows XP is based around the newer NT technology, for that reason everything and everything can be encrypted, and restricted without having to have passwords on each file.

(if you set up different username to log on, it's easy to protect all your files).
