Default The best free antivirus

Hi, I just bought a refurbished Thinkpad laptop, and I would like to know what would be the best free antivirus software to use.

Go with Avast. It's currently the most popular free AV and I have been using it for 6 years without trouble.

This question comes up about once or twice a week I think - usual consensus is Avast! and I agree with said consensus

I am not a fan of AVG as just about everything you do brings a UAC prompt box up.

Hate the UAC prompt. That's the first thing i disable when i install a fresh copy of Windows.

I don't disable it for security reasons obviously but just AVG with a lot of its settings it asks for UAC.

I trust my AV to take care of it. And i have never seen a virus trigger it. They are smarter than that.

Every single time i see that prompt it's because i myself have started up a install file or something else.
Windows be like "something is trying to change stuff on your computer". Then i am like "ehh, yeah retard, i just clicked on it."

If it is that important, why don't MacOSX and any Linux OS not have UAC?

Anyway, not trying to bash on your reasoning. It might add slightly extra security. But the annoyance is not worth it to me.
