the above site has tons of usefull info on there.....^^

update:i have put a little idea i had in here for extra protection on viruses that anyone can do for extra protection of your hhd.

ok, for those of you who are familiar with dual booting and hhd jumpers this will be easy for you. it's an idea to scan your hhd if it ever get's infected with a virus.

the outline only requires a second hhd and some know how on how to make a hhd a master drive or slave via the jumper's.

here how it works, 1st take a second hhd, then make a partiton on it and then format it. next make it a slave drive. then put it on the second slot on the ide cable for your main hhd or master. then load up windows.

windows will detect the second hhd and load the driver's for it automatically so it can read/write to the drive. next load a antivirus program on to it that is different than the anti-virus your using. example: if you have AVG on your master drive, put Nod 32 or f-secure on your second hhd.

now once it's loaded, do an update for it so that it has all the latest definitions, now turn off the compter the normal way. once the computer is off, pull the power cord from the computer and then open up your computer.

now just carefully unplug just the power to the second hhd, you one you just loaded the f-secure anti-virus program to. (f-secure was an example AV)
now just leave it like that, now put cover back on computer and plug cord back in.

now if you ever get a virus on your master drive or hhd 1, you can always plug back in the second hhd, and then launch the anti-virus on there, to scan hhd one (master drive) to rid of any viruses/trojans you might have on there.

there, now you have a sure back-up to scanning your master drive for viruses. good luck. ;)

Just another helpful tip : UPDATED IN APRIL 07

If you just done a fresh install of Windows XP or done a Format, here is a little trick that will ease alot or worries laster on. Right after you done a fresh install or restore of the operating system..

Reboot and go into safe mode and do a defrag, once that's done.. Run at least two different registry cleaners on your computer. If you use two full version one's the better. What they do is clear out all the stored registry errors that piled up in the registry that will cause problems for your operating system unless they are cleaned out.

I have tested this out many times, and have came to the logical conclusion that it works great, so i'm pasing the info along to other's.. Now that You've cleaned out all those errors, just follow the above <General Cleaning> and you'll be glad ya did...

For a good scan of system problems, There is the PitStop site :

http://www.pcpitstop.com/

This is a site that can scan Your computer to find out problems that you're software may miss, try it out. I have used this site before, and it's pretty good.
