Issue : You get the blue screen of death and the error ati2dvag blue screen as well as a stop code. The ati2dvag blue screen of death error is usually caused because of a driver issue and when you are using a graphic intense application like a video game or a high quality video.
Other symptoms for ati2dvag blue screen of death
-You notice a reduced quality in the computers display. Your computer might boot showing the smallest screen resolution then switch to a larger screen resolution once windows has booted.
-Its also possible for the ati2dvag blue screen problem to cause unwanted system freezes and cause your CPU to run at 100%.
-Incompatibility with Windows XP SP2 and other faulty drivers could also result in this ati2dvag blue screen error. However, this isn't yet confirmed but it looks like the hardware acceleration settings in ATI are likely able to cause a fatal system failure
-Your system blue screens when you go to a website with a flash animation.
Resolution For ati2dvag blue screen of death
-1st thing to do it to make sure you have the latest driver installed on your system. Go to the ati website and download and install the latest driver that is available. Before you install the updated driver, be sure to remove the old driver first and restart your computer. Uninstall the existing ATI graphics driver by going to Control Panel, then System, click on Hardware, then Device Manager and then choose to uninstall the device driver in Display Adaptors. Reboot your system, When your computer has restarted and booted to windows if you get a prompt to install a display driver just click on cancel. Now install the updated driver.
-Reseat the ATI video card. Sounds silly but it could be a lose connection that is causing the ati2dvag blue screen of death issue. Take the ATI card out, then blow the connections on the video card and on the motherboard.
-Is your ATI graphics card overheating?? Is there a fan on the card? Is it spinning correctly??
-Are you running 2 x ATI cards in your system? If yes can you take one out and only use one in an effort to identify if one of them is faulty.
-Install older drivers of the ATI graphics card. Uninstall the existing ATI display driver by going to Control Panel, then System, click on Hardware,
then Device Manager and then choose to uninstall the device driver in Display Adaptors. Reboot your system. Now install the drivers that came on the CD with the ATI graphics card, If you dont have the CD see if you can find older drivers via google.
-Change a hardware setting. Right click "My Computer" and select Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Click [+] next to System devices > right-mouse on CPU to AGP Controller > Update Driver. Select Install from a list or specific location > Next > Select Don't search. I will choose the driver to install > Next > Select PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge > Next > Finish > Reboot your system.
-Has the ati2dvag blue screen issue only started since you changed your power settings? If yes set your power settings to "Maximum Performance" to see if the issue goes away.
-Make sure the latest service pack is installed for your operating system
-Run windows update and install all the hotfixes available, Maybe microsoft have released a hotfix that fixes this problem.
-Run a chkdsk on your system, Its possible a corupt file is causing these ati2dvag blue screen of death
-If all of the above fails to fix the ati2dvag blue screen issue you can try to re-install windows from scratch. You will then know if the problem is hardware or software related.
