I don't I'll ever get an i7. Somehow real cores seem more attractive to me that HT now that higher count multi-core CPU's are available. HT feels wrong for some reason. Is it compatibility or price, or maybe a combination of both? Dunno.

How is HTT wrong? It's an added data handling thus increasing speed. More cores is better yes but useless on single thread operations. Put HTT on that core and it moves data faster.

Now each core with HTT is going to be faster than each core without.

I just refreshed my memory and remembered that i5's performed better than or equal to i7's in games when I used to look for reviews which makes i7's overpriced for gamers like me. The same for short term use tasks and just multimedia playback. Maybe that's it.

I can see that. It doesn't justify the extra cost.
