hard drive acting up

Hello everyone my hard drive is busted,I have a extra one but the problem is that a ide connection on the drive and my mother board does not have the slot for it..but my brother pc has the connection for the board so I planned to swap his sata drive with the ide drive seeing thta his motherboard has the connection..everything was going fine I put the hard drive into his pc installed windows with no errors but when it's time to restart and boot up i keep getting disk read error. I have the drive set to master.. Isaying there a bios setting am missing it's award bios. I wondering if the drive is actually bad but I had it awhile it was still in the pacKate never opened

Only way to find out is to run the drive diagnosis CD and check the drive.

I would recommend using Ultimate Boot CD/ to scan the drive or get the utility from the manufacturer.
