How to know if USB hub will work with multiple HDDs?

Hi, i have two USB hubs (not powered), and both fails to work with 2 external HDDs at same time. Im powering HDDs by external power adapter so power should not be the issue.

But it is like these hubs canot support two HDD data communications at same time. It is nonstop connecting/diconnecting.

So i think i need to get some USB hub which supports multiple HDDs, which parameter can tell me that such hub will accept it?

Try connecting them through a switch or a router on your network.

The problem with USB hubs (besides power), is that you are trying to merge several data streams into one pipe.

If those data streams are intermittent (mouse, keyboard, occasional data to/from phone), then the hub is a workable solution. When you are trying to do so with a couple hard drives, then you are going to have problems: the hard drive firmware assumes that it has a dedicated line and it's going to cram as much data through as fast as it can.
