So I see no one on here has mentioned Broadwell-E and it's ridiculously overpriced processors. The 6950x is 1700 bucks.... WHAT? A die shrink and two more cores is worth 700 more bucks than the already way overpriced 5960x? Get out of here. Intel is insane. No one is going to buy that chip. Hopefully Zen actually provides some competition so Intel is forced to be more innovative AND lower their prices.

Zen is going to be late to the party, with a release in Q4 2016 of its enthusiast/consumer Summit Ridge CPU's and then a 2017 release of its Raven Ridge APU's. Intel's Kaby Lake is also releasing at the end of 2016, with the 10nm Cannon Lake releasing in the second half of 2017. Zen's performance looks very impressive, but it could find itself in a weird spot if its better than the 5960x, weaker than the 6950x, and further marginalized in the face of Kaby Lake consumer CPU's. It would certainly force Intel's hand on the enthusiast front (assuming its priced right) and that's for the best. I'm an intel guy all the way but a monopoly isn't good for any consumer.
