Dumb Question Re: Printer Fax Number

You can actually do something very similar with any printer that's connected to a computer using Google Cloud Print service. It's a server that assigns an email address to you and when a document is emailed to that address, it is downloaded to your computer and then printed to your printer.

Yep, the canon doesn't need that though, it works without google.

I think the google cloud print is pretty cool but in reality I haven't really found a use for any of those services that let you "print from anywhere." Rarely have I had a need to print something a long distance away from me.

I've only used Google Cloud print to print something from my Android phone. I don't need it any longer since my Brother printer has an Android app that lets me print from my phone.

What's cool about the printers like the Canon that Technician is talking about is that the printer connects directly to the internet through a router, has it's own IP address and doesn't require being connected to a computer to work.
