Hi new to the forum but been on thers before, I have a problem at the minute - when I turn the power on to my PC there is power initially then it either surges or turns off.
I have replaced CPU now replaced mother board and using a different PSU

Current config

Gigabyte SKT-AM3 78LMT-USB3 Motherboard New

cors air 750w PSU (New)

standard sata 3 HDD

ADM FX 4130 CPU (New) or 4100 available

2 X 4GB DDR 3 RAM

the same problem occurred on the old motherboard, I origanlly thought the problem was the CPU so this was changed now a new mobo,

Any ideas help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Unplug everything from your motherboard. just run the MB with the psu and a monitor. If it still trips then it has to be the MB, RAM, CPU or PSU still. I know it wont boot but you should still see the POST. If it doesn't trip out then add each peripheral one by one. When it trips you will have found the culprit, hopefully.

Also try it with the one stick of ram and if it still happens put that ram in a different slot

If it's done this on two different boards, then something is up with the power supply.
Disconnect everything then put a jumper between the green lead and a black lead in the main MB power plug. If the PSU comes on and stays on then take a meter and check the voltages.
If when you put the jumper in and it comes on then turns off the PSU is bad.
