POS touchscreen replacement question

Hi, my father's touchscreen monitor went kaput this morning at his small shop and we are looking for a replacement.

The company that installed our POS software/hardware is out of business so our questions have led us here.

Anyway, I was wondering if the interface cables have changed in recent years (we used the green cable as the touch screen interface i think) and would a usb-touch interface be compatible? or does it depend on our software?

Shopping around, is it normal for cheap touchscreens to be starting around $290-300 (STARTING PRICE)?

I've included some pictures of our dead screen. Any suggestions to which direction i should go would be appreciated. thanks!

Without some more specific details its hard to say for definite.

However, Presuming you have admin rights on the POS computer, replacing the monitor with a USB touchscreen would be fine, you would just need to update and install the new touchscreen software.
