Sharp Actius MM10 Booting Problem

I have one of those vintage (haha, 2004) Sharp Actius MM10, the one that was thinner than the first Macbook Air that Steve Jobs mistakenly said was the thinnest ever :)

Anyway, the hard drive went bad in the unit and being an iPod hard drive, I replaced with another one. The new one spins up and seems to work great (the old one would click and not boot).

My problem is whenever I plug an external HD with a copy of Windows, it does not see the USB CD drive to boot to it. I go into the Bios and set USB first in the boot order and it still does not seem to see anything. It goes straight to the "no operation system found".

This was an ultraportable notebook that had an external CD drive so I know it is meant to use one.

Thanks for you help!

I think you need to hit a certain key to boot from the USB port. You press it during POST. Refer to your manual.
