AMD is in the soup, again

Good read. That's not exactly what AMD needs right now.
So to my understanding it kinda like (in a incorrect comparison) Intel's Hyper threading technology.
It shows itself to be 8 cores in windows but is in fact advertised to be 4 cores.

well then, that probably goes some way to showing why "8 Core" AMD chips struggle to stack up with Quad core Intels that have a higher instructions per clock count - because they actually have the same number of functional cores but the Intel options are 'faster'

That's just my really naive way of looking at it, waiting for someone to come along and correct me :p

I heard something about his earlier in the week. I always wondered if this was possible and why Intel never made an 8 Core CPU. Obviously its not yet possible for desktops & laptops..

One of the reasons Intel hasn't made an 8 core is as yet it hasn't been sufficiently demonstrated there are any programs that can utilize 8 cores anyway.
