Solving Internet Connections!

It's not always a software issue. Sometimes it can be as simple as rebooting the hardware.

Power down the computer, the router, and the modem. Bring up the modem first. Let it establish a connection to the ISP before moving on.
When that is done power up the router. Let it get connected to the modem before moving on.
Power up the computer. After logging on to your computer log on to a wireless connection and sit back. If it shows connected then open your browser and go to your homepage or to Google. If these pages open you have a connection. Enjoy. It may take a minute to get the connection started but not too long.

However...

If the modem shows a connection but down stream your computer isn't then it could be a router issue. To test this take a computer and plug directly in to the modem. Reboot the modem and afterwards, the computer. This is so the modem sees the computer and serves it an IP. It's an important step.
If your computer can get on line then it's time to suspect the router.
If you can get in to the router, default it. Some times some people will make mistakes trying to program one and that mistake will come back in certain events to bite them on the ass. Then they run around in circles wondering what the frack went wrong. Default it, trust me.
(Tip)> If you can't get in to the router, hold down the reset button and unplug the power. Wait with the button in for about 10 seconds. Continue to hold the button down and plug the power back in. Hold the button down for 60 seconds. Use the factory IP and ID and password to get in. You have to connect to it if using wireless. Hardwire won't need to do that.

Now back to square one.
Power everything down.
Wait for a minute then power it back up.
Modem first.
Router second.
Computer Last.

Get your computer connected to the router then see if you can get online.
