Hi! Yes Sudden Link is often the problem and you have to get in there face some times.
They did schedule a appointment; but once I found my lap top would connect, I cancelled the appointment. Sudden Link has replaced the modem for me before and fixed the problem. No I did not try a sfc scan after factory restore. After six hours, I was exhausted. That would have been a good idea to do that and Ill remember that tip next time. I have tried to read those logs, but they really don't make a lot of sense. If the senior would have had a restore disc, I would have tried a repair install.
She couldn't find any discs. I was getting pop-ups about dll files. Sorry some times my computer vocabulary isn't very good. In my mind the only answer was back to factory. That may have been a bad decision on my part. When I can't get a clean sfc scan, I panic. I agree that the problem is hardware related. I think it's the network adapter. but it sure acted different then any thing I've seen. The dang PC should have connected to the net. OH well, that's the way of computer life. Win some lose some. I lost this time, but I'll Get-er-Done next time.
Thanks everyone. You have been great help and I have learned a lot.
I appreciate each one of you!
