The only thing i can think of that might help is to reset cmos. Install the new RAM. take out the battery and the bios battery. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Reinstall the batteries and good luck.

I might be wrong but does anything happen if you plugin an external display in?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but your laptop does not support that RAM

The max speed that laptop will handle is the PC3-8500. See if you can return the RAM you purchased and get PC3-8500 SODIMMs.
