I was offered a free Dell Vostro 200 Slim PC and when looking at it I saw it had an Intel Core 2 Duo chip which is not the newest, cutting edge, but it is definitely still a great chip, definitely better than the Pentium 4 computer that was also being given away ;)

Anyway, I was just wondering, what are some neat things to do with this PC?

Also, I do have a dedicated graphics card that is sitting in my office that I may upgrade the integrated card that is built in.

Thanks a lot!

Maybe a media centre of some sort? Stick a Blu-Ray drive in it and you're sorted!

I think that it should be okay running Blu-Rays anyway, hopefully someone else can confirm that!

Doesn't sound to me like you need another computer. Will it not just take up space?

Joe's idea is a good one though.
It will be able to run blueray if it has HDMI 1.4 support, display port or dual link DVI. He also need a supporting cable and the BlueRay drive itself.

Put a media server on it such as Plex and stream from it.
Put some shares on it and use it as a file server/backup destination
Or put a second drive in it and create a RAID 1 with free nas, and then put shares on it. Install ubuntu and run an apache webserver.
If you're not a linux guy just use XAMMP and then run a webserver.
Setup a torrenting box (utorrent, deluge both have webserver capabilities)
Add a NIC and install PFSense to turn it into a router

Or, better than any of that, plug an access point into it and do this.
