Hello I have a HP-Pavilion m6 and it has a quad core. Recently it has been getting very hot and i use a cooling fan to cool it down. I would appreciate help on how to fix this problem

Is it the CPU that gets too hot?

Take off the back cover and remove any dust. specially on the fan.
Use some compressed air into the air vents.

That should help.
How old is it?
You might want to reapply some quality thermal paste.

I have had this laptop for 2 years now and I have already cleaned it from the inside.
The processor is a AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics and the graphics card is a AMD Radeon HD 7640G and is a discrete graphics card.

Experiences with dell and HP products in the past has taught me that they like to go one of two ways. They either apply a TON of thermal paste to all the heatsunk chips, OR they apply a tiny amount of really low quality stuff.

While it's apart, re-mount the CPU/APU cooler using a proper amount of decent thermal paste

Oh, and this time of year, I find that ambient temperature starts becoming a problem, for me at least.

What temps are you actually seeing? 80-85C is pretty normal for a laptop with a decent CPU, especially an AMD CPU as they have significantly higher TDPs.

My old HP G60 used to ramp up to 105 degrees fairly quick and then throttle the speed, so games would lag etc, some laptops just have a bad reference cooling design. After applying better thermal paste, cleaning the heatsink, and poking a few holes in the bottom (a suggested mod), it worked fine!
