I have a HP slim laptop in a box. It uses laptop memory and wireless and a laptop hard drive. 500 gig hard drive, to be exact. I got this for cheap to use in the office. So before I get rotated back home I want to beef it just a little.
I want to know(and I should know this but it's late) if I get a 1TB drive and partition it off in to 2 logical drives on another machine, once installed on the target machine, will the bios see it as 2 500gig drives? Or will it see one 1TB drive with 2 partitions?

Windows disk management (and therefore logical drives, partitions, and such) are only active within Windows it's self, the BIOS only sees the actual hardware, so it will show you the hardware name of the drive and it's overall capacity only as BK Said.

Yeah I had already checked the specs and the tech's service manual. Neither gave what's the largest drive you could install other than the biggest drive it came with is a 500gig. The bios doesn't give any clues either. So that's why I asked.
