Win7 windows explorer randomly crashing

I did not have this problem with IE10 in either IE or win explorer. I have to add I have a WD MyCloudMirror NAS box. No problems running that either.

I inadvertently let my curiosity over rule my better judgment and downloaded IE11. That's when the problems started. Right click menu leads to a WE crash and the check for a solution or just do a restart box. It sure hasn't found an answer so I just click on restart. Programs don't stop running, just anything related to the OS.

Other things it does is when I click on a program sometimes it will crash. Big annoyance is when I drag and drop a file from the computer to the NAS box, that part goes ok. But then when I right click to delete the file from the computer, it crashes.

I have run combofix, stinger, malwarebytes (free version), spybot S&D (free version), ESET security suite 8, findjunkfiles, and ccleaner.

None of the security and malware scanners have picked up on anything other than the normal cookies that get loaded on by forums for the remember me function. The rest is my Sunday morning routine of cleaning up of the system.

Since I use my laptop for work and play this is getting to be a major annoyance. Here's the specs if that helps:

HP G7 1310us
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 All updates and patches are installed as of the time of this post.
WD MyCloudMirror desktop interface software
Office Home and Student 2013 Updates automatically, current as of the time of this post.

I suspect IE11 myself. Does installing IE affect WE? Any help will surely be appreciated in a big way. I have to have this laptop running right as my excel templates are on here. And I fly multi rotor platforms and my programming software is on here also. I'm in effect grounded until I get this resolved. Thanks!

I have heard from a few people whom have the same issue with IE11, and others that do not. But it really does sound like IE on your end. In case you did not know, IE integrates with the regular Explorer, and any applications that use an imbedded browser object.

Its just a guess, but an educated one.

Try using the SFC /scannow command
(nabbed from another forum, it's explained it as well as I ever would)

To Run the SFC /SCANNOW Command in Windows 7
1. Open an "elevated command prompt" (right click command prompt -> Run as administrator), and do step 2 below


2. To Scan and Repair System Files
NOTE: Scans the integrity of all protected system files and repairs the system files if needed.

A) In the elevated command prompt, type sfc /scannow, press Enter
NOTE: This may take a little bit to finish.

I have run sfc /scannow and chkdsk. Both reported nothing found.

That would have been an absolute last resort.

Seems at another forum they were of the opinion that I had some programs that were a little long in the tooth. I took off Spybot S&D and a few others and lo and behold the problem went away. I will reinstall them one at a time to see which one was the culprit. It might be a combination of programs so this may take a while.
By the way. I won't be going back to that "other" forum. They have a God complex which makes you feel real unwelcome real quick.
