Gpu under $250 USD

I am looking into a gpu that is under 250$. It would be ok if under $300, I am looking at a Nvidia GTX 750ti, and a AMD R9 270x. Should it be worth it for the R9 for little gaming and overall performance.

Get a GTX 960. Or an R9 290. Personally I like Nvidia better than AMD but the 290 is a good bit faster than the 960

Yeah they recommend the 290 and its the cheapest or OP could for a 960 but both cards are much for much..
