Sickening

Wow...
This thread went to hell in a hurry. Started out one subject and ends up a gun control debate. This is one sure fire way to get ill will started between members.

All people will have problems. No country is any better than any other country. You guys are comparing apples and oranges and forgetting the size of the relative orchards. Stats are shit. Countries in the EU are smaller than the US so the comparison of crime stats doesn't balance out.

For the love of God go find something else to complain about. Think we'll get more snow in the south?

The subject of the thread didn't change, started out as a pro gun argument that women should carry guns in order to protect themselves from rape.

No comparison of apples and oranges is taking place. Stats are not shit. The size of the countries is completely irrelevant as long as the crime rates are compared on a per capita basis.

The south may get more snow but the difference of opinion regarding guns as a solution to crime will still exist regardless.

Only replying to the OP here...
You do not have to tell me twice. That really is sick.
I wish that more people would at least take self defence classes. They may not be as good as your standard MA class, but they will give you what you need to know to defend yourself against "Street Fighters".
And confidence goes a long way as well. A decent class should teach you that you are better than anyone that comes to take you on. For men or women I still say that "Kick them where it hurts and run!" is one of the best things that you can learn.

To me the best defense is not to be in that situation.

In other words, you'd better have a good reason to walk down a dark alley.

Well yes, you dont ever want to be in a bad position, so you are right. I am talking about people who find themselves in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

That's understood. Some people cannot avoid that situation like leaving the building after working late (think nurses for example).

Situation awareness comes to play then. Car parked in a dark spot? get an escort or call a cop and explain your situation. They'll understand.

Now here is where that really gets sad. Call a cop every time you are in that position, and you will end up getting arrested. At least around here.

I should have said that you will end up getting arrested, or end up waiting an hour or longer. Once the cops know you, and you are calling in simple stuff like that, they will get sick of it very fast.
Its not for having somthing better to do, its just that you end up bugging them. Idk, I live in Balch Springs, and we call our police force the BSPD for other reasons that just the name of the town XD
